Quiet Planet®

Wetlands

Wetlands provides a sonic wonderland at the intimate embrace of water and land. Places with standing fresh water include swamps, marshes, ponds, and lakes, and offer sounds as delicate as the flight of a solitary mosquito to those as bold and uplifting as the calls of Canada Geese and Sandhill Cranes in flight. Besides numerous ambient loops listed by time of day, there are also many individual species of waterfowl and frog voices. Need something not so dramatic? Chose from an ample supply of tranquil soundscapes. Perhaps an afternoon breeze through reeds, evening trout splashing on a lake, or a distant frog chorus at night. There are five thunderstorms and 22 loops of lapping water to give your wetlands design just the right amount of wetness.
All 196 sound files from North America (more than nine hours) have smart metadata with geographic location and species ID (SoundMiner® readable). In addition, there are two valuable guides. Sound Designing with Wetlands provides helpful instructions on how to simultaneously use multiple pyramids to streamline workflow and meet production deadlines. How to Record Wetlands is filled with professional advice on how to assess sunlight, water conditions, and auditory horizons to place your microphones at the precise location within the boundary layer where even distant events sound close.
